Why is it so much harder after HS to find good friends?

Seriously, it seems after HS and after I dropped out of the "Drink till you puke" club, it's getting harder and harder to find some good friends, guys or girls. Most of my friends are still in the club while I have a family, so I can't quite do the same and need new friends.

Why is it so much harder after HS to find good friends?
Your limited by the quantity of people you meet now. When in high school there were hundreds of people to interact with. Get involved in some social groups, do activities you enjoy and you'll meet like minded friends, church is also a great fellowship social gathering to meet new friends - be proactive and get out and meet your neighbors....let people know that you have friendship to offer.
Reply:You have the answer already.

In highschool you were not responsible for anything. Now you are married and have a family. And even if you are not married, you have responsibilities.

For one, the fact that you are responsible shows that you are maturing while your friends are still just having fun. Eventually they will see the light and do the same thing you are doing.

hopefully they will.

Don't envy the past, look for the future. eventually you will have a more fullfilled life than your friends are having now. and they will wish to have what you do now.
Reply:It's harder because in high school a) it's much easier to network and b) you're all basically in the same place in your life. Sounds like you've matured faster than those your age, and perhaps you should look for friends who are older, and out of the club as well.

It's tough, I know. Good luck, though!
Reply:I know what you mean, it is a lot harder to find friends now. Well if you ever need a friend I am usually here! Just email or IM me!
Reply:in high school you had that the fact that you went to the same school in common, and after 12 years of school your mind doesn't know what its like to not be in school so you have to learn how to change and adjust to the world
Reply:Yeah, i think in high school you can make friends so much easier than when your grown up and have a family. Cause now your not only looking for a friend to suit your criteria but also a friendship that have good influence on your family. Your much more aware of barriers and limits than in high school so yeah.
Reply:you shouldnt be hanging out with friends like that anyways. Plus after high school people are so busy because they are now grown and old enough to drink and buy drinks. If you have a family that influence isnt good for you and soon you will meet your real friends.
Reply:It shouldn't be that hard. The first month of moving to a new town for college, I met the friends that I will probably have the rest of my life. You need to give people a chance
