I am single, male, 25 years old. I just finished graduate school and took my first job 2,800 miles away from my hometown. When I arrived here I knew no one. I have struggled to find ways to meet people, make friends, and find a girlfriend. I tried on-line dating and was disappointed with dates - it seemed nearly as random as blind dating. Any ideas on meeting girls when you are single and have a very limited social network?
I just moved here for my job. I don't have friends here. How do I make friends and find a girlfriend?
I also moved away from everything I knew about 5 years ago, and I am now 28 so about your age. It took me a long time to realize people aren't going to seek me out as fabulous as I am! So I joined some clubs. I got into a book club, I joined a gym and went to the same gym at the same time 5 days a week, I also joined a running club. Bottom line you have to be proactive. Get your butt out from behind the computer scene and be noticed! Have fun and explore the city. Dont be afraid to go out to movies, bars, clubs by yourself and spark up conversation. As silly as you may feel its really the only way to meet people. Once you meet a few they will start introducing you to others! Where did you move from and to?
Reply:Join clubs or groups that peak your interest. Maybe there's a class you've always wanted to take (painting or cooking for example). You'll already have a common interest with everyone there that you can build from.
See if there's speed dating in your area too. I have a bf so I've never tried it but I hear it's fun and interesting.
