I'll be staying at Hotel Monaco for a couple a days and want to pick up some nice souvenirs for my friends and family. Not really sure what I want to get them yet. I'm very open to suggestions of places to look. I have a feeling there are better places than the overpriced museums to find neat items.
Where to find moderately priced souvenirs for friends %26amp; family in Chicago?
Even though you want to avoid museums, you might want to check out the Chicago Historical Society, at 1601 N Clark St. Besides having good info on the city's history, their gift shop has a lot of Chicago gifts that are reasonably priced. If you forget someone, they also have a kiosk at the airport. You could also go up to Wrigley Field during a Cubs game and buy T-shirts or other Cubs gear. And Navy Pier on a sunny Chicago day is a fun place to stroll around, enjoy the views of the city from out on the water, and there are plenty of shops there that have a variety of gifts. Reply:go to navy pier they have the most amazing things there and most are them are at a mmodest cheap price!!!!
Reply:Take a walk over the the Chicago Cultural Center on Michigan Ave between Randolph and Washington. There's a Chicago store on the north side (Randolf). While you're there, go check out the Tiffany glass domes in G.A.R. hall and Preston Bradley Hall.
You could go to Macy's/Marshall Fields and get some Frango's. They qualify as a Chicago souvenir.
Reply:I always see Chicago stuff at Walgreens.
Reply:You may want to try a CVS or a Walgreen's.This is where my relatives go to when they are in town and want to get a lot for little money. You can find local magazines, tee shirts, key chains, post cards, water globes, mini sears towers or hats(cubs, bears, sox). If you go to one of these stores farther out of the gold coast or downtown area the prices will be cheaper.
