I feel so lost everywhere...why can't i find my true friends?

i'm a freshman in hs. i'm rly shy and quiet but i push myself to be social. i just can't seem to find my real friends. i don't feel accepted anywhere and i feel rushed. i saw how my older sister grew...how she was a "nerd" my age and grew up to become really smart AND cool when she started becoming a junior. sorry, i sound stereotypical...anyway, i talk to everyone even if their nerdy or popular or w.e. but everyone already has their own little groups. i also feel like i don't belong in my church youth group. i feel pressured by my sister and feel like how she grew up is my guideline. i'm so crazy at home...why can't i express it? if i did i would fit in so well in my opinion and wouldn't feel so lost.

I feel so lost everywhere...why can't i find my true friends?
Just be yourself. Stop trying so hard. There's nothing wrong with being quiet and shy, you'll grow outta it soon enough. and stop classifying people. maybe if you don't see them that way you'll make friends easier.

if expressing yourself is the problem, then search and you shall find. If you dont know what to say just say whatever comes to mind. you're a teen so they wont kill ya if you say something wrong.
Reply:You have to be yourself and realize that everyone goes through an awkward phase when they are younger. Also, learning to spell might improve your chances of meeting and impressing people of at least passable literacy.
Reply:a lot of times people are lame in high school. think differently..that always grabs attention

smile when you talk to people
Reply:Everyone goes through that phase. It's good that you're putting yourself out there. It's freshman year, you've got plenty of time to make friends. And as far as your sister being a guideline, I know what you mean. Just know that you don't have to be your sister. Express yourself if you feel that it would help you fit in. Just have fun, you're young after all.
